St. Francis Day
“We would speak of Brother Francis, who draws very close at this season of the year to stimulate compassion in human hearts; compassion towards your little brethren of the air, the sea and the earth. A long time ago now, we learned from our elder brethren never to wantonly slay any creature of the animal kingdom. We taught never to torture or slay for sport or to abuse our little brethren in any way.”

“There are plenty of grains foods and fruits and vegetables, seeds and nuts—the earth abounds in vitalizing foods which can give you all you need for the sustenance of your physical body. We want you to remember this and to think with compassion of all your brethren in the animal kingdom, and of the suffering inflicted on them, not least at the time of the Christmas festival. We say most earnestly, that until you yourself refrain from cruelty to the brethren of the animal kingdom, you yourself will suffer.”
